The optimal state of living and of doing
business is effortless. Ideally, things should flow with no
struggle or strain on your part. This is ideal, not as in
"unattainable", but as in "natural" and "the best place to be".
Any deviation from the natural state, from effortlessness, is a
distortion, which leads to stress, loss of direction, and diminished
happiness. A gauge of your success should be the amount of effort
required. If none, you are there!
Effortlessness does not mean inaction. It means not forcing, but equally
it means not resisting. If
you are inspired, you move! You have to get it expressed, so you
create,
communicate. You do business.
You have to work, so that you don't explode, but your action is so
flowing, you feel that you are not even
there. You merge with your work, your art. So much is happening
and you are participating fully while also simply watching in delight,
with waves of joy washing over
you.
To operate this way, you need to be doing and following what you love.
If you are not doing what you love, work
takes on the cold, resistant quality we all know so well from years of
schooling and industry.
But this is the new economy, and you are a new entrepreneur. The modus
operandi now is doing what you love, bringing yourself to your
business, growing spiritually, and thriving effortlessly.
In the state of effortlessness, all is happening as it should. You are
not alienated and,
hence, not worried about security. It is part of the package deal, as
is happiness, balance and wealth.
From a place of effortlessness, you can
maintain your presence, your
intensity. You can bring intense love into the world. You can make the
right
decisions in the right way at the right time. You can reduce violence
and strengthen relationships. You will, in business terms, add huge
value.
Your business will evolve, rapidly, towards
greater overall well being and sustainability. People will blossom
and intelligence will flow. All effortlessly.
You will live in the sweet spot where you achieve everything by doing
nothing. You will make no more effort than living to the full, and no
less.
So, be relaxed and meditative in all you
do.
This is your life, don't
miss it!

The
Black Hotels ended 2006, the year we
formed, having played 14 live shows. It was quite a high.
Michael Maurel,
freelance journalist for various Johannesburg newspapers, wrote this
after seeing us on 14 November:
"I was highly impressed by
a band called The Black Hotels. In a way they
reignited my faith in the South African indie rock scene. They
have a laid back Teenage Fanclub, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Arcade Fire
sort of vibe. They also included a Velvet Underground cover in their
set.
Their music is mature, and does not try
too hard to fit in to any specific genre. I get the
impression the members are honestly making music they enjoy, and
not just trying to impress a certain market. The Black Hotels
are refreshing, tight, and a pleasure to listen to. I found the
audience enjoyed the set as much as I."
To warm up
for 2007, we are playing the following shows around Johannesburg in
February:
- Thursday
1 - Back 2 Basix
- Saturday
17 - The Bohemian
- Friday
23 - London Calling.
Then in March 2007, we will be
touring South Africa, playing 12 dates around the country. Details will
be announced here next month.

With
that, my corporate work, writing, travelling,
running my business, seeing family and friends, and finding time for
myself, I'm having to work
smart.
When I get it right, it's effortless!
Be good
to yourself.
