TEAMWORK March 2010
Hello to you, it's Robin Wheeler
with your 'being
yourself for a living' newsletter!
In this issue:
WORKING FROM HOME To start the year, I wrote an article for The Star Workplace. In it, I make a case for working from home. You can see and read a scan of it here. 'FULLY BOOKED' AND THRIVING! The Workplace ran an article on 8 February 2010 about the 'Fully Booked' process and the book THRIVING! that gives a great overview of both. There's a scan of it here for you. INTERVIEW ABOUT CHANGE On 15 February
2010, I spoke to Karabo Kgoleng on SAfm about change in the workplace -
how to live it and how to lead it. You can download or listen to the
twenty minute
interview here. It's a 6mb mp3 file. TEAMWORK It's
Friday afternoon. I've just arrived home from a three day
conference that I presented and facilitated. The informal evening
events were often even more insightful and productive than the
days,
which could not have been fuller. From
watching the forty business leaders from around the country present
themselves, share their experience, and build relationships, I
posted on my Facebook profile that: Giving leaders room to
realise their uniqueness makes for a thriving business. My
client is progressive. The corporate leaders are awake, responsive,
spirited. The regional unit heads are entrepreneurial, generous
and gifted. I was enriched. I grew. I, like the delegates, was
given the room to flourish. It
was a risk, I did new stuff. I worked with the process to demonstrate
the skills I was sharing: It wasn't content delivered in one direction,
it was alive, organic. The group was intelligence in action. Each
leader is an entrepreneur. His or her uniqueness is encouraged. She has
a
business structure to work with, a vehicle, a tool, an economic engine.
He has to be the heart and soul of it, and use his head. She needs to
bring who she is to what she does and foster this in everyone. Each
leader is an entrepreneur and each leader is technician, a general
manager. Fundamental business skill is essential. The basics apply more
than ever. But there's more. Each
leader is a marketer and networker. Every leader is unique and
respectful of uniqueness. Every leader is living proof. All
of this coming together is teamwork.
